Rockford, IL – January 26, 2024 – The Rockford Area Pride Committee is thrilled to announce the receipt of a grant from the "Forward for Fun" program, a joint initiative by the City of Rockford and the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. This grant will significantly contribute to the realization of the Rockford Area Pride Parade 2024, scheduled to take place on June 1, 2024.
The "Forward for Fun" grant program is designed to address the heightened rates of isolation and loneliness post-pandemic, and aims to foster community engagement, support local businesses, and encourage innovative use of public and private spaces throughout the city. This grant will empower the Rockford Area Pride Committee to create a memorable and inclusive event that Celebrates, Remembers, and Unites the LGBTQ+ Community in and around Rockford, Illinois. It will also allow the Committee to look forward to hosting the parade annually for many years to come.
"We are thrilled to announce that the Rockford Area Pride Committee has been awarded a 'Forward for Fun' grant for the 2024 Pride Parade," said Darcy Pinasco, Fundraising Director of the Rockford Area Pride Committee. "This grant will play a vital role in supporting our efforts to create an event that not only celebrates pride and diversity but also encourages community engagement and economic vitality."
A significant portion of the proceeds generated from the Rockford Area Pride Parade 2024 will be donated to the LIAM Foundation, an organization supporting the LGBTQ+ community in and around Rockford. This collaboration reflects the Rockford Area Pride Committee's commitment to giving back to the community and supporting organizations that uplift the LGBTQ+ community.
